Brennner who as Acting Mayor has initiated several states of emergency in Pickering feels there is much to share and much to learn from what is taking place at this time in the Coastal USA and Texas

In particular the Councillors will be reviewing how transportation systems (Roads and other methods) are an essential part of an evacuation process.  Presently if an evacuation was ever required in Pickering and the Eastern GTA,  the Councillors are concerned that what is being experienced in Texas would be repeated here.

At this time Pickering does not have enough transportation routes that would enable suitable movement.

While in Dallas the Councillors will also be representing APTA and Durham Regional Transit at the American Public Transit Association Expo and Conference where they will be examining new methods of public transportation which could be incorporated into the new proposed community of Seaton as well as the new DRT (Durham Regional Transit) which launches January 1st 2006.
